The Soul Surfers Series is a very inspirational set of books! Bethany Hamilton is my rock and my idol because of how much she is able to do with only one arm. My arm was paralyzed in a motorcycle accident and because of Bethany Hamilton I amputated my arm, these books really helped me form the decision to have my arm amputated and to feel comfortable with it.

Even if your kids aren't fans of Bethenny Hamilton, they will enjoy this series, which helps them work out and see what others would do, not always perfectly - in the Soul Surfer Series. Dealing with friendships, what secrets are good to keep, and compassion for people who make your life tough - my girls tore through these books and have re-read them. I read them and found them useful to bring into conversations.Little about disabilities, lots about girl and social issues.

Bought for my daughter and she loved them - she is 9.

My 12 year old daughter is now a fan of Bethany Hamilton. She is a good role model for young girls everywhere.

It is a very good book because it is about God and is a very cool book and is awesome.

I'm officially done with this series and will not read book 8. I feel like the things this family went through just for it all to end the way it did didn't make sense. I didn't respect Breeze after book 6 and this book just made me even more upset, I get Zyir snitched but the fact that he did it to protect her and she turns her back on him is crazy to me. After prison she could have made it right and even tho she did the selfless thing she still took the coward way out. Carter didn't have to get his ending either after everything he went through for it to end like that was dumb. C.J and Mo had to grow out without there parents and the fact that they both got different paths makes me want to read book 8 but I'm over the emotional roller coaster. They book was well written which was to be expected and Ashley and JaQuavis are such great writers. I just don't understand why they keep prolonging this series just to kill everyone off. Good luck to those who read forward.

I have been following the Cartel series from day one and this book was a great disappointment. They are holding on to a finished story line. This book should have been free on Prime not $9.99. Then they have the nerve to try to do another book. Please stop the mini series that you are trying to pass as books are a disrespect to true fans and readers.

I don't even know where to begin. This book was not worth the money I spent. I was really emotional as to why Carter ended when he just got started trying to get himself together for his family. Why did breeze leave Zyir instead of telling him who she was. Why is miamor still in prison 10years later.. All this is two much and the storyline was the illuminati:roundtable of bosses but where the hell are they if all of that was a bunch of bull@#$%. I'm so frustrated with the writers. I feel as though book was just thrown together. It was way short then the other books.

I've read almost every book by these two and for them to throw something together like this is very disappointing. This series should have ended a couple books back but like a true Carter and Miamor fan I wanted to see a happy ending. That wasn't the case. I hate books with terrible endings. These family have endured nothing but sadness the entire series. Please end with book 8 with a happy ending.

This was not what I was expecting, I have read all of Ashley and JaQuavis book. But this was not a good read, the story line was everywhere... I'm very disappointed..

I was so excited for this book to be released, I literally pre ordered it. So to say I'm absolutely disappointed would be an understatement! The phrase 'life happens' is the true definition of this book. There were so many trials of hardship to squeeze in one book, it was so excessive not to mention sad ! The book seemed rushed, to be honest the series probably should have ended sooner. Safe to say I will not be reading the 8th book. I was so anxious to read, only to be sickened by events an highly disappointed over all. Too many unanswered questions, plots turns and lapsed time unaccounted for .. 10 years later though really.. Yeah I'm done ...

I am loyal fan of theirs and I got to the end of the book and was like...WHAT?!! Is that it?!!!! Come on yall, you couldn't do better than this. I waited how long for the next book and this left me highly disappointed. I have a feeling Carter isn't dead (PLEASE don't let him be dead!!!!) which would be great but if he is please so be it. Please let the next book in the series not leave us hanging. I know yall are more creative than this and I've purchased and read ALL of your books; you guys are the king and queen of urban literature, so I know what you are capable of giving us. I'll still support and recommend your books but I may have to borrow from the local library and not recommend to my family eading group anymore.

The book over was a decent read. Authors appear to me to be going more for the $money$ then developing a great story. What happen with Miamor getting out of jail ? Ten years later she was still sitting there. What happen with the new designer drug with Carter and Anari? Back in the states 3 years and nothing. Carter came back to Miami and set up his network for 3 years and never got his wife out or found his son until his death.The book overall in spurts had a good read in other parts of the book I was like huh??? I knew another sequel was coming with the kids. The sequel will probably take 2 yrs before it hits the book shelves. I'm probably done with these two authors. I struggle to give this book a 3 star more like 2. Oh well 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️

After I read a recent biography of Hadrian, I decided to follow up on the works of Flavian Arrianus (or Arrian), a governor and legate under Hadrian and a prolific author. I started with his 'Campaigns of Alexander' and then procured two other extant works on tactics and two reports to Hadrian on a military expedition and his inspection of the peoples and works around the Black (Uxine) Sea.Although I had read several histories of Alexander, most of which no doubt partially drew on Arrian's work, I found it interesting to read a complete account, based on the writings of those who accompanied the expedition (Ptolemy, et al), by someone who was far more directly in touch with the military, logistical, and cultural context, and that from the viewpoint of a seasoned military and political leader and agent.All the way through, Arrian discusses conflicting accounts of the same event by the original chroniclers and comments on his reasons for choosing one over the other.

Of all the books that I read of Alexander the Great, this book is my favourite in explaining the famous battles.It also explaines how he conquered the tribes from Persia up to Sogdiana.The battles of the Granicus,Issus,Gaugamela,and above all Tyre are incredibly narrated.The names are all there, who did what,and who did not.In the battle of Tyre, how much he had destroyed and how much he had to rebuild,never giving up.It explains all the problems that Alexander encountered with the Tyrians.The death of Hephastion that made him lose his sanity,make you really feel what friendship meant to him. What this young man accomplished,and what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. Conquer as long as there were places to conquer.It also writes about the honest side of Alexander,and those whowere traitors how he treated them.All the spoils of war he gave away,only eternal fame was his.How he created cities,and how he was ahead of his time, in many ways.Read it is a great book indeed.

When I review translations of works I rate them on the importance of the work and the relative quality of translation. I deduct points if there are better translations available.The quality of translation here is outstanding. The work is accessible and the general tone found in other Greek historiographies is left intact. The book is very readable and worthy of study. I am not aware of any better translation or edition than this one.This work also is of great importance. Arrian's biography used the sources available to the author and fashioned a careful account of Alexander's conquests. The attention to detail is very good and Arrian discusses conflicts of the sources honestly. His work here has become the single most important ancient account of Alexander's campaigns to survive to the modern era. Its importance in its field cannot be overestimated.Highly recommended.

Worth the read! I learned a lot about one of the great figures in history - many lessons that still apply in this day and age.

Arrian was a Roman official and military man. He had access to many of the original documents pertaining to Alexander, documents now long gone.In may ways Arrian is an appologist for Alexander and it is clear that he had great admiration for him. Like all men Alexander had flaws and Arrian is probably less willing to discuss those flaws than some other writiers might have been. Nevertheless, this is THE reference on Alexander and those of us who are fascianted by this man are going to want to read Arrians writings. Arrian writes a very readable book and this translation is, so far as my limited Greek can ascertain, very well done. This is not only history but an adventure book, and being written by one so close to the actual events is in itself a historical document, one that many readers will find difficult to put down. It is history without ponderousness and deserves the highest praise.I recommend that anyone who has a yearn for adventure pick up this book and go with Alexander to Persia. I do agree this gives readers a very vivid image of the great warrior. It allows military stratagy students like me the knoldge of how he won his most famous battles and with luck we can utilize this knoledge to help win future battles. some stratagy is timeless and for his time alexander was a genious. i would recomend this for pleasure readers ,military historians ,greek studiers ,those who like alexander ,and many others .

I teach 3-5 year-olds and we all love this hilarious book. The plot: Duck sees an advertisement for a talent show in Farmer Brown's newspaper and cuts it out. The animals practice their acts in secret. Farmer Brown knows they are up to something, but can't figure it out. They go to the talent show and... surprise ending!It's great fun to read aloud. Your inner performer will come to the fore as you render the cows singing, "Dooby dooby moo" to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and the sheep singing, "fa la la la bah" to the tune Home on the Range. (Spoiler alert:) It will also come in handy if you can quack to the tune of "Born to Be Wild."The book is peppered with subtle humor with plenty for both adults and children to enjoy; for example the disclaimer the animals sign at the talent show registration and the judges' Olympics-style scoring. Look for the mice on each page and see their reactions. We learn the outcome of the story with one picture on the last page - no words! The picture says it all.This book is the third in a series (after Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type and Giggle Giggle Quack) and definitely our favorite of the three. I like to introduce Dooby Dooby Moo by reading the first two books first, which are also very good, but Dooby Dooby Moo is the one we keep coming back to.

The Click Clack series of books are adorable. I gave this one and two others to a friend's 3 year old because she loves to read. And because I read some of these books to my daughter 15 years ago. They quickly became favorites with both these girls--15 years apart! They are just as fun for adults to read to the kiddos in their lives.

Disappointed with Amazon! Will be returning. It is the story my kids know and love but I ordered and paid for a NEW version. Instead I received a hardcover book with no dust jacket, folded pages, smudges and good stains. I am not happy.

This is one of my all-time favorite books to read and sing with kids. I recently added egg-shakers to our storytime, which made this even more fun! The kids are more interested in singing like a cow, pig and duck when eggs are also part of the picture. However, you don't need eggs or a great singing voice (I don't have one) to share this book with your child.Although the author/illustrator is more well-known for the Caldecott Honor "Click, Clack, Moo," I prefer this one.

Any one who remembers Frank Sinatra's "Strangers in the Night" will have a hoot with Doreen Cronin's children's book titled "Dooby Dooby Moo." She has found a way to infuse laugh-out-loud humor in her children's books. I ordered four for my 33 month old grandson, and he now interjects quotes from these great books into his daily language use. Their rhythmic fun appeals to his sense of humor-which has developed even morr with the stimulation of Cronin's books!

We all love this book! It’s hysterical! Imaginative, rhyming and some new words for our child. Awesome book!

We found this series at the library first and enjoyed them so much that we purchased them for ourselves. This book features a duck that really wants to win a trampoline at the county fair. He trains the pigs to do an interpretive dance, the sheep to sing a song and the cows to sing another song.This is the kind of book my children never grow tired of having read to them and at the same time I never tire of reading it to them. It is just great fun.
